In the Volvo XC40, you'll find more rear headroom and shoulder room than the Audi Q3, plus you'll enjoy a lower starting price with the Volvo SUV than you will with the Audi SUV. In the Volvo XC40, you have the opportunity to enjoy Perforated Fine Nappa Leather/Nubuck upholstery, while the Audi Q3 SUV doesn't have this option. Leather upholstery is a luxury that both models offer, but the Audi Q3 charges you more for the comfort of this seating material while the Volvo XC40 won't. For the epitome of style and luxury, the Volvo XC40 Inscription trim can allow you to enjoy a crystal gear shift knob made by the Swedish glassmaker Orrefors, a company known for their impeccable designs. Audi won't allow you that option on the Q3 or any other model, and their gear shift knobs are only available with leather, which the Volvo XC40 also offers. Both of these SUVs offer a panoramic sunroof/moonroof. The cargo space in the Q3 also falls beneath the XC40, giving you 48 and 57.5 cubic feet respectively.
Technology & Safety
To get SiriusXM Satellite Radio and the Lane Keeping Aid, you'll end up having to pay more if you choose the Audi Q3 because it doesn't offer these on the base trim level. With the Volvo XC40, you'll get these features for less because they are available on the lowest trim level, plus it offers a 12.3-inch digital driver information display, while the Q3 only offers a 10.25-inch driver information display. The XC40 allows you to experience security with Road Sign Information and Post Collision Braking Assist as standard features. The Audi Q3 won't offer either of these safety features. The Audi Q3 is equipped with an 8.8-inch touchscreen display, while the XC40 gives you a nine-inch center display to work with, plus standard 360-degree Surround View Camera. The Q3 gives you a Top View Camera option, but only on the highest trim level.
Performance & Efficiency
Maintaining your luxury SUV is impetrative to the health of your SUV, and with the Volvo XC40, you get help ensuring your milestone appointments are met without delay. Volvo will pay for your milestone maintenance service visits at 10k, 20k, and 30k miles, which is something that Audi doesn't do for the Q3. Fuel economy ratings in the Q3 differ from those in the XC40, and the Audi SUV also doesn't stack up when compared to the Volvo SUV. The Volvo XC40 will offer a plug-in hybrid option, called the XC40 Recharge, that's coming soon, but the Audi Q3 doesn't have a hybrid option on our radar just yet. With the Audi Q3, your base engine offers up to 228 horsepower, while the XC40 offers an engine with 248 horsepower.
